Media studies resource (2006)

Challenge

The Broadcasting Standards Authority (BSA) was receiving increasing numbers of information requests from students and teachers. They asked Educating NZ to develop educational resources about their work and related media issues that could be used in secondary schools, and published on their website.

Approach

We worked with media studies teachers and representatives of the National Association of Media Educators to develop a range of activities and lesson plans that are linked to NCEA qualifications and based on the work of the BSA.

Results

The activities and lesson plans were published on the BSA website in 2007. BSA is using the knowledge they’ve gained from this as well as other projects and research, to develop a framework for their media literacy strategy.
