TEACH-VIP (2004)

Challenge

The World Health Organisation (WHO) had developed TEACH-VIP - a comprehensive injury prevention and control curriculum with modules to train professionals in the health sector in members countries. In 2004, Educating NZ was appointed as the pilot phase provider for a New Zealand trial of WHO’s violence and injury prevention training modules.

Approach

We worked with the Safe Communities Foundation NZ and the Injury Prevention Network of Aotearoa New Zealand to adapt the modules to meet New Zealand conditions and audiences. We then presented the modules to a number of education and injury prevention sector groups.

What’s happening now?

The material went into a pilot testing phase involving 23 settings worldwide and a wide variety of training audiences. WHO has now made this training material freely available for settings wishing to provide instruction in the area of injury prevention. To order the materials or for more information about the project visit the TEACH-VIP page on the WHO website.
