Project update:
2008
Educating NZ is now working on a further project for the Ministry of Health, to equip parents and caregivers with strategies and information about the supply of alcohol to minors. We will write web and hard-copy resources targeted at parents/caregivers, and develop guidelines for schools on how to involve the community in dealing with the issue.
The project aims to reduce alcohol-related harm, and is supported by the Families Commission and the Alcohol Advisory Council of NZ.

2007
Received funding to develop a drug education matrix of learning outcomes to assist teachers in delivering effective drug education inline with current curriculum developments.
The matrix has been developed in response to requests from principals, teachers, Boards of Trustees and wider school communities, for a broad framework that outlines the knowledge, understandings and skills that students should develop through learning at levels 1–8 (years 1–13) within the context of drug education.
The resource is a collaboration between the Ministries of Health, Education and Youth Development, and involves the Alcohol Advisory Council of NZ, the NZ Drug Foundation, NZ Health Teachers Association and organisations of school principals.
2005 (May–June)
Educating NZ ran a series of regional one-day workshops that provided practical advice about planning for and implementing drug education in schools – over 250 principals of schools with students in years 7–13 attended.
The workshops were funded by the Ministry of Youth Development to promote best practice in school-based drug education, and focused on two Ministry publications: Strengthening Drug Education in School Communities: A Best Practice Handbook and A Practical Guide for Years 7–13.
